Conservatory Lighting Overview

Lighting options in a Conservatory

A conservatory is inherently a very light and airy room during the day however, when the daylight fades your choice of lighting will now, more than ever, affect how you choose to use and enjoy this living area during the evening and late into the night. Carefully chosen lighting in your garden room is one of the most effective ways to create ambience and change the mood of the space creating a comfortable and relaxed living room which can be enjoyed both day and night, throughout the year.

Conservatory lighting can be divided into two main categories; primary lighting, which is your main source and may comprise of a ceiling fitment, wall lights or both. To accompany your primary lighting you can also add accent lighting. This decorative lighting may be used to accentuate a specific architectural feature or corner of the room within your living space and can change the garden room from just “any old room” to a spectacular sensory delight.

Pendant Lighting

There are many elegant forms and sizes of pendant lighting from hand carved Italian chandeliers, glass chandeliers, elegant wrought iron chandeliers, and a plethora of beautiful lanterns - all of which have a very stylish impact on your room. Below are just some examples of the many lights we are able to supply for our clients.

Table And Standard Lights

Table lamps and standard lamps that feature on cabinets and consoles or light the corner of a room will give you excellent low level lighting to accompany the main lighting in your room. This more subtle form of light will give your room mood and character and it is often more frequently used than pendant and wall lights for creating ambience.

Downlights

When planning your conservatory and lighting scheme, you may wish to consider down lighters within the inset gutter. These can be really effective. It is also advisable to incorporate the facility to dim all your lighting where possible, thus allowing you to change the output to suit your mood and use of the space. Relaxing over drinks and dining in your garden room with friends, requires subtle atmospheric lighting, whilst catching up on work requires a more purposeful use of the lighting available. Being in control of your lighting will make your conservatory a versatile, usable and altogether a more enjoyable space to be in.

Final Lighting Considerations

With this in mind, we should like to remind you of one small thing. There is nothing more enjoyable than turning off all your lights and just enjoying the peace and calm of your conservatory, lit by the moon and a thousand stars.
